Zion Williamson cards recommendations? A good goal should be attainable so be realistic. Look at what you enjoy most about collecting. A specific player? Rookie cards? Autographs? Building sets? Start here. Then further find your niche by looking at the styles of cards that are out there. Basically, you’re looking to find your niche within a niche. And for everyone, that will probably be a little bit different. When you see a long list of products on the horizon, you don’t need to get them all. Even getting one box of everything can add up and leave you with stacks of cards you probably didn’t really want in the first place. Sampling is good, to a certain extent. Life gets boring if you order a Big Mac every time you go to McDonald’s. But don’t feel the need to go all-in on every product.
In many collectibles, the phrase is used that “condition is everything.” This is true of card collecting as well. There are very few rare sports cards. Most can be had relatively easily for a price. What is rare, however, is older cards in good condition and newer cards in “perfect” condition. Most of the damage to cards that affects the decision is the result of handling of the cards after they leave their initial packaging. Prior to that, however, defects can occur when the cards are printed onto large sheets (such as a double image) or when the sheets are cut into individual cards (problems which result in centering issues.) Ultimately, everyone wants the most attractive card.

Another oddball card that makes our list is the 1960 Kahn’s Wieners card of Lakers legend Jerry West. These regional issues were distributed primarily in the Cincinnati area so it’s interesting to note that West was only non- Cincinnati Royal to have a card in this set. The hobby only recognizes the 1961 Fleer as his rookie, but this pre-rookie card released a year earlier is just as if not more expensive. Finding them in top condition without staining is tough though, since the cards were distributed inside packages of meat. Baylor’s acrobatic moves were something the game had never seen before and paved the way for other exciting performers like Dr. J, Jordan and Bryant. And most people forget, he’s actually number three on the NBA’s all-time points per game leader board after posting a 27.4 ppg career mark. Also, notice the giraffe logo on his card, something that’s been somewhat of a mystery to Lakers fans and collectors for years. It’s an amazing card of one of the Lakers’ most overlooked legends.
