I went on a total fox jag a while back. I just love their forms and inquisitive natures. With these sculptures I’ve mostly explored foxes looking and behaving naturally, as well as engaging in a bit of my usual anthropomorphizing. (Man, I wish there was a shorter word for that!) This is Attention to De-tail, an elegant piece filled with great lines. My goal here was to create a lyrical design that celebrated the grace of foxes. This quiet moment allows me to explore the fox form in repose, instead of in action. There is no rushing here; we are allowing the fox to truly give attention to every detail. This piece exhibits all the hallmarks of my work, such as curves transitioning into planes, highlighted dimensional lines, complex and rich patinas, and a bit of complementary texture. Even though this fox is in repose, the graceful line from the tip of the tail to the nose is reminiscent of the movement of my dance sculptures. And as with another of my fox pieces, EnWrapture, I continue to explore the juxtaposition of texture with smooth surface. Tip for getting bronze art valued: Have realistic expectations. Last, be realistic about your expectations. There are some bronze sculptures that are frequently replicated, and they can be found all over the place such as pieces by Remington, Rodin, and Renoir. If you’re looking at one of these pieces, the chances of it being worth anything substantial are slim to none. However, with less replicated pieces, they have the potential to be original casts or recasts, and the value for these can vary.

Bronze sculptures cleaning: Before we get into that, it is important to know that most bronze sculptures will come with a wax or polish of some kind already on it. This wax should protect the bronze sculpture for about three to five months, sometimes even longer. A key thing to check for (if your bronze isn’t covered with bird poop or other debris) is if water still beads off the sculpture. Meet Laurel Peterson Gregory : My Creative Process: My process typically begins with careful scrutiny of the anatomy and movement of my intended subject. Dozens of digital images and sketches later, the subtle positions, relationships, and attitudes of my animal characters capture the feeling and story I seek to convey in the piece.

When Perzy tried the trick with a lightbulb, he discovered the brightness wasn’t improved. But what if he added something to the water that the light could bounce off of? Perzy started with white semolina flakes, used in baby food at the time. “He poured [them] into the glass globe, and [they] got soaked by the water and floated very slowly to the base of the globe,” his grandson, Erwin Perzy III, told the BBC. “This effect reminded him of snowfall.” Inspiration struck: What if he used his technical expertise to create a tiny diorama in his snowy little world? Perzy made a miniature replica of the Basilica of the Birth of the Virgin Mary in Mariazell, Austria, placed it in his water-filled globe, sealed it, and mounted it to a gypsum base that he painted black. And voila—the first snow globe was born.

Let’s start with a short history of bobbleheads. Chinese nodding-head figures are documented in England and Continental Europe as early as the 1760’s and 1770’s and Johann Zoffany’s famous portrait depicting Queen Charlotte in her Dressing Room at Buckingham Palace painted in 1765 shows two such figures in the background (see C. Saumarez Smith, Eighteenth Century Decoration, New York, 1993, p. 255, fig. 246). Nodding-head figures were imported into England, Europe and America from Canton in large numbers from the 1780’s. The great interest in these figures in England is derived in large part from the personal tastes of the Prince of Wales (later George IV) during the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. The Prince’s interest in Chinese decoration was first expressed in his Chinese Drawing Room at Carlton House; however his sudden inspiration to achieve an Oriental interior at Brighton Pavilion was prompted in 1802. The final achievement, an ornate palace of fantastical proportions and exotic furnishings, was due to the combined efforts of the Prince himself and his principal designers, John and Frederick Crace, over the next twenty-five years. A number of Chinese figures of this type were prominently displayed in the corridor of the Pavilion (see J. Morley, The Making of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, Boston, 1984, pp. 169-176).

How are bobbleheads made? There are all types of bobble heads and they’re made from several types of materials. Generally, the most common bobble heads are made from resin and plastic.
