During a purchase, your buyer might want to do the diligence and make sure everything is legal and tactical. My advice is, be practical and take the step before having any buyer so you know everything is good. Besides, every buyer wants to know what they buy is legal. Even if you’re not doing something wrong, I believe is worth to invest some dollars on a lawyer to bulletproof your business. Also, this helps you to check the terms of your service, add, or even remove disclaimers. For example, older drives would be subject to something called stiction, and sometimes became ‘stuck’, whereby the head and actuator were locked or stuck and the motor failed to spin, causing the hard drive platters to spin improperly. One trick that had some reported success involved placing a hard drive in the freezer, which would cause the metal to contract and become unstuck, at least long enough to offload the data.
